These early days go by faster than anyone warns you they will. One week your baby is curled up sleeping through everything. The next, they are grinning at the ceiling fan like it is the most fascinating thing they have ever seen. Jessica photographs every stage — the newborn session in those first sleepy days, the sitter session when they finally figure out sitting, the cake smash at one — because every stage deserves to be documented before it is already a memory.
As a mom of three, Jessica knows exactly how fast this goes. Her goal is to make the whole experience as easy and beautiful as possible so families can be completely present while she takes care of everything else.
Jessica Morrisy is a newborn and maternity photographer based in Ocean Grove, NJ — a Victorian shore town where the light is golden and the pace is still unhurried enough to really notice things. She has been photographing babies and families along the Jersey Shore and throughout New Jersey and New York for eighteen years. And she has three kids of her own, which means she knows exactly what it feels like to be a completely joyful, completely exhausted new parent who just wants someone else to handle the logistics for a few hours.
Newborn sessions with Jessica are baby-led and entirely unpressured. The session goes at whatever pace the little one needs — feeding breaks, settling time, all of it built in. Her studio in Ocean Grove is warm and quiet, the kind of space where babies actually relax and parents exhale. Jessica uses a gentle, natural approach: airy light, simple props, real poses that highlight the tiny details families are going to want to remember — the way their fingers curl, the weight of them in your arms, the almost-smile that is not quite a smile yet.
Maternity and newborn sessions can each be booked individually or together as part of The Collective, which bundles a maternity session, newborn session, sitter, and one-year session. Jessica believes the full first year deserves to be documented. So much happens in those twelve months — the way they look, the way they move, the way they change almost overnight. It goes by in an instant. The Collective is for the families who do not want to miss any of it.

Cake Smash Session
The cake smash is a super fun way to wrap up your year of milestones. I like to say its sort of a cake version of a mic drop. You bring the cake and we discuss a fun theme to remember this big day! Usually planned for the end of a one year session but not required.

What to Expect ...when you're expecting
When should I schedule a newborn session?
The sweet spot is within the first 5 to 14 days of a baby's life. This is when newborns are sleepiest, most flexible, and easiest to settle into those beautiful curled poses. Jessica recommends reaching out before the due date so the spot is already reserved — then the exact date gets confirmed once baby arrives.
How long does a newborn session take?
Plan for 2 to 4 hours, though the session works entirely at the baby's pace. There is no rushing. Feeding breaks, soothing time, outfit changes — all of it is built in. The only job is to be present. Jessica takes care of the rest.
What if my baby is fussy or doesn't want to cooperate?
Completely normal and something Jessica plans for in every single session. Babies do what babies do. She has been photographing newborns for eighteen years — she knows how to settle them, when to wait them out, and how to find the beautiful moments in between the fussy ones. They always get the shots.
When will we receive our photos?
Edited images are delivered within 2 to 3 weeks of the session. Jessica takes her time with the retouching because she wants every image to be something families would genuinely frame. The gallery arrives in an online portal that can be shared, downloaded, and ordered from directly.
Can we include parents and siblings in the session?
Absolutely — and it is one of Jessica's favorites to make happen. Family shots will be planned during the pre-session consultation so she can think through the best sequence for keeping everyone comfortable and the session flowing smoothly.
Do you offer prints and albums?
Yes. An ordering session — in person or over Zoom — happens after the gallery is ready. Jessica walks families through everything available, from fine art prints to heirloom albums that can be passed down for generations. There is no pressure to decide anything in the moment. Families are encouraged to take their time.
